Adam Selzer - Clark Street Carols

Wake up september
It's nearly 9:00
It was time to start raining Half an hour ago

Moira's on the corner, just outside her building
doing a rain dance in her Tribly hat, her beads and fake fur coat

The costume she's been waiting
To put back on again
Whistling the love theme
From a quarter after ten
Every year when it gets hot
She has to put herself away
Wake up september
Wash away the last of the summer days
la la la la la la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la la la

Moira dreams the whole wide world Had stayed in black and white
With the soundtrack of the classic movies Playing all the time

Her efficiency apartment is right above a place
That according to the stories as a favorite of Capone

And she dances there she wonders how she can tell her folks
That she changed her name from Bernstein To St. Vincent Millay

The costume she's been waiting
To put back on again
Whistling the love theme
From a quarter after ten
Every year in summertime
She has to put herself away
I wish she'd let me kiss her
like that Bogart movie where the music plays

like lalala..

The costume she's been waiting
To put back on again
Whistling the love theme
From a quarter after ten
Every year in summertime
She has to put herself away
Moira laughs as the first few raindrops
splatter down upon her face
lalala...
