LYRICS SET LISTS RECORDINGS
Hi, Folks! Brian here from the Smart Aleck Staff, of which Adam is the boss. Adam still plays the odd music gig here and there. He's not the worlds greatest singer/guitarist, but some of his songs are really excellent, and he got some GREAT people to play on his albums, including Vixy Dockrey, Mary Crowell, Jeff Brown, Kelly Warner and Bryan Hall (now of Mile Train), and others! Now there's a GREAT deal in which you can buy his albums right here at 95% off list price! Amaze your friends with your knowledge of obscure music and discover GREAT, easy-to-play songs for your own band to cover for a low, low price! Scroll down a bit to see!
Note: This Adam Selzer is not to be confused with the OTHER Adam Selzer, the one who lives in Portland, plays with Norfolk and Western (not to mention M. Ward) and is an ace producer! Adam (Chicago) is flattered to be mistaken for him, though.
| A "new deal" of FDR proportions! Get a bundle of FIVE albums for just $4.99! We will mail you a download link to the zip files. All mp3 files are itunes-ready - at a fraction of iTunes price! (Amazon widgets are just for previewing. This deal gets you 95% off the iTunes/Amazon price!) |
GEEKS GONE WILD IN CHICAGO (Live 2007) Brian's note: this is probably Adam's best record. It's about as "live" as Kiss: Alive 2 (most of the band recorded their parts remotely - only Adam and Jeff the guitar/ accordion player were onstage), but it sounds GREAT! These are the best versions of some of his best songs, with a band that brings in familiar faces from previous albums (Jeff, Vixy Dockrey and Mary Crowell) and some new faces (Amy McNally on violin). |
CLARK STREET CAROLS (2006) Brian's note: This one is kinda folk-rocky. Like something from 1971 that would have been recorded by guys with beards. Upright bass on several songs. Vixy Dockrey is such a good singer that she almost makes Adam sound good just by singing along with him on several tracks! Check out "One Last Short Poem." She sounds like Emmylou Harris. |
SUBURBAN POST MODERNIST (2004) Brian's Note: This one is pretty neat - lotsa trumpet and piano. Check out "One Man's Poetry" and "Punk Rock Tango Girl." Oh, and "Valentine's Day." And "Snowflakes In Your Hair," which isn't the worst Springsteen knock-off you ever heard. But doesn't "there'll be snowflakes in your hair" just mean "you'll have dandruff?" The jazzy "How Mark Got Sane" is as cool as it gets, daddy-o. |
| THE BROKEN CHIMEYS: SATAN'S PARENTS' BASEMENT Brian says: this is a new one (2009) featuring "electric" versions of some of Adam Selzer and his Revolving Door All Stars' "greatest hits," as "covered" by The Broken Chimneys, as well as a couple of new songs. The opening "Doorbell Ditchin' at the Pearly Gates" is a great punk song! |
STORM SHADOW (2001) Brian's Note: This one has a very small cult following! Most of the best songs were later re-recorded for the live album or The Broken Chimneys (when Adam was marginally better at playing and singing), though. "Dread" is a pretty cool goth song with a violin in it - one of only a couple of recordings of the actual live lineup of "Adam Selzer and his Maritime Band," which had Joe Cato on drums and Margret Chang on violin. |
| Get all five albums for just $4.99! Act now, and we'll even throw in The Other Side of Town, the super-rare outtakes EP that features the haunting piano version of "Like a Prayer" that has been making the rounds of the internet (usually credited to the other Adam Selzer). Five albums and an EP for under five bucks! Over 80 tracks - discover great songs that are easy to play! We will e-mail you download links to the zip files. All mp3 files are itunes-ready! Can't use paypal? Throw us a line at staff@smartalecksguide.com and we'll try to work something out! |
